The Cafe Central

The emblematic Cafe Central dates back to the 19th century and is located in the old Moorish city centre, facing the Casa Amarilla next to the San Matteo Church.

This combination of an antique flavour and the aroma of a good coffee with the contemporary colourful cosmopolitan terrace is where locals and visitors meet, get to know and experience the Tarifa way of life. The town of contrasts; two seas, two winds, two continents, two time frames and a cultural melting pot which make us feel more alive and true citizens of the world.

History tells us that in these lands, Tarsus, Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Visigoths and Arabs have all passed through and left their trace. Some stay others leave, but even today travellers come to see Europe’s Natural southern limit, its winds, its beaches and its people. Tarifa ‘The wind Capital’, you can’t get further south.
Since 1894 the Café Central has opened its doors to all people who reach this meeting point in the town centre, a reference place for any visit. If you want to be the best place in town come ant try the Café Central.
